The institute of Health Sciences Research of Jimma University has communicated the research result conducted since the establishment of the institute in May 2005 in its Gilgel Gibe Field Research Center. Participants from six Public universities, Federal ministry of Health , Oromia Regional Health Bureau , Ethiopian Public Health Association CDC Ethiopia , World Health Organization, Jimma Zone Administration, Jimma Zone Health Bureau and Jimma University community. The forums is aimed at sharing experiences and achievement of the Institute of Health Sciences Research at Jimma university, present surveillance and research findings of the Gilgel Gibe Field Research Center and strengthen partnership between stakeholders and identify potential collaborators and suggest way forward to further strengthen such researches and create a forum for deliberation. The conference created a platform for discussion of issues related to importance of such centers and institutes for the generation and dissemination of research finding for policy formulation in the country.In the similar forum the institute has communicated its findings to the local community in the Community Debriefing Conference that was conducted at Deneba town on October 7/2011. In this conference various discussions was held with the community representative’s kebele chairpersons and head of the woreda administration and health bureau representatives. More over the research finding was translated into afaan Oromo and disseminated to the local people for better understanding and partnership in doing further research in the future. Ato Kora Tushune Vice President for administration and development and Biyya Moga head of the office of president of Jimma University and the researchers from the Institutes of health sciences have attended the conference. On the conference and discussion, Ato Kora Tushune stated in his speech that Jimma University believes in partnership and the collaboration we have with the community can make a difference in the development endeavor. We are ready always to work with the community as our motto “we are in the community “is the indicator for our belief in partnership with the Ethiopian society in general and the local community in particular. Our objective is not to give aid to you but to help you decide on your fate through working in partnership with us and make impact in the development endeavor of our country. We try to equip you with necessary information and skills through research in various areas of felt needs so that you can use these information and skills to improve your lives.Finally, certificates were given to all those local Kebeles and words involved in the facilitation of the research undertakings at Gilgel Gibe Field Research Centers.
