JU planted over 6000 multipurpose trees along Gilgel Gibe Catchment areas

Jimma University College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine organized a campaign on planting trees in Keresa woreda of Gilgel Gibe Dam catchment area. The purpose of the watershed management and planting tree is to enhance the quality and durability of the dam in generating renewable energy sustainably. It also minimizes siltation, soil erosion and enhance the suitability of micro-climate in the area that would contributes to Ethiopia green economy policy. 

Short term training on “Design and Analysis of Experiments; and Publication of Peer-reviewed Papers on Reputable Journals” conducted

Jimma University organized a four days short term training on “Design and Analysis of Experiments; and Publication of Peer-reviewed Papers on Reputable Journals” in collaboration with Global Knowledge Network (G-KEN)/ Ethiopian Doctoral and Masters Academy (EDMA). The short term training was conducted from July 17-20/2017.

Jimma University and Lucy Consulting Engineers held press release on The First Annual Ethiopian Road Safety Conference (RSC 2017) for various Media journalists on July 21, 2017 at Harmony Hotel, Addis Ababa.  On the occasion JU's Vice president for Business and development Mr. Kora Tushune says, ``road safety has become one of the most critical issue of discussion in Ethiopia given the negative socio-economic impact  it is causing at national level``

Jimma University organized a consultative workshop in collaboration with an Open Forum for Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB) Ethiopia chapter, hosted by the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR). The conference was held on 15 July, 2017 at Jimma University, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.

A National Postgraduate Curriculum Review Workshop held at Jimma University

A national Postgraduate curriculum review workshop of various disciplines was held at Jimma University from 13th- 14th of July, 2017 at JUCAVM meeting Hall. A total of 21 new curricula previously drafted by the various Colleges & Institutes of JU were critically reviewed by renowned scholars from institutions in Ethiopia and abroad.

Five Faculty Members promoted to Full Professor

Jimma University Board of Governors at its 48th regular meeting held on July 9, 2017 has approved the promotion of Drs. Debela Hunde, Delenasaw Yewhalaw, Ketema Bacha, Sintayehu Alamrew and Ali Mohammed to full professorship.  Before the approval, a review process and decision has been made by the respective departments and colleges of the applicants and by the University Senate.

CISCO Networking Academy of Jimma University graduated, 136 students- 45 female and 91 Male who took a training on networking for 10 months on July 5, 2017 at Natural Science Meeting hall located in the main campus of the University.
