JU Held its 8th Annual Research Conference

Jimma University conducted its 8th Annual Research Conference under the Grand Theme:” Strengthening University-Community Linkage; A National Framework for Research and Technology Transfer” on April 27-28, 2017 at Jimma University College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine Hall. A welcoming address was made by Dr. Tsige Ketema, Vice President for Research and Community Services.

Jimma University received International Centers of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMR) award from NIH

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), on 21 April 2017 announced funding for seven malaria research centers around the world. The 7-year International Centers of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMRs) award is a continuation of NIAID’s 2010 program that created the International Centers of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMRs) award in regions where malaria is endemic.

Jimma University is hosting a regional training workshop on data management from 24-28 April 2017

The training workshop is organized in collaboration with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) through Jimma University and University of Copenhagen Alliance in Nutrition (JUCAN) Research Project. JUCAN takes part in the consortium established on the study “Using nuclear techniques to assess body composition in children previously treated for moderate and severe acute malnutrition and their medium-term benefits and risks in six African countries”. The training participants are from various African countries, namely, Burkina Faso, Democratic Rep.

JU Receives a Donation of Teaching aids from American Academy of Dermatology

The Department of Dermatology and Venereology of Jimma University received teaching aid materials of diseases prepared with colored pictures. These materials are of great help for undergraduate medical students to study dermatology easily. The materials are donated upon the request of the department and were sent within a very short period of time.
