About the Department

Postharvest management (PHM) department was established in November 2008 to host B.Sc. in PHM program and other initiatives of the Postharvest Management to Improve Livelihoods (PHMIL) project. But as of 2013/14 the BSc program has been nationally harmonized as BSc in Food Science and Postharvest Technology (FSTP). Moreover, the department has already launched an M.Sc. program in Postharvest Management as of September 2010 and the third batch has been admitted. As of September 2014 necessary preparations have been made to admit students for PhD level training in Postharvest Technology (PT).

The department has a six year project in PHMIL funded by DFATD (Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, Canada) and being implemented by Dalhousie and McGill universities at JUCAVM.
