Job opportunities before a graduation day: Jimma University conducted a job fair

Jimma University Career Development and Entrepreneurship Center in collaboration with ethiojobs/Dereja.com conducted job fair on June, 16, 2018 at main campus mini stadium. More than 10 local, national and international participated in the event. The event was also attended by JU’s top management including JU president, Vice Presidents, College Deans, and Directors of various offices. 
In his welcoming speech, Professor Fikre Lemessa, JU president stated that ‘‘events such as this one, create an opportunity for students to meet future employers and reputable and well-established companies’ representatives and owners. “In meeting them, according to Prof. Fikre, students be inspired to work hard and commit to their future goals. “ Professor Fikre also emphasized that the event will also help students to strive in pursuing their dreams and to explore every opportunity in their journey and path to success. They will  also understand the importance of building one’s career path knowing or determining where they want to go and how to get there, will mostly certainly, facilitate their search for the right and most suitable career that will help them enrich and make a difference in their community.’’ Professor Fikre said. 
In conclusion, professor Fikre extended his appreciation to those who took part in the fair, and to Dereja.com team under the leadership of Mis. Siham Ayele and to JU team for their hard work and dedication in organizing the fair. 
A remark was delivered by Mr. Ahmed Mohammed, Director of Career Development and Entrepreneurship Center. In his remark, Mr. Ahmed said the office has been preparing students over the past months through trainings and workshop to enable them to Enhance Employability Skill and Develop Soft Skill/ Transferable skill. The event, according to Mr. Ahmed is a demonstration and a practical way for students to understand the theoretical knowledge they acquired in the training. He also passed his appreciation to those who took part in the fair.  
Subsequently, hiring process took place, companies conducted a process of recruitment including review of applications and resume and interview. The fair offered opportunity for students to experience career development and job search skills and for employers to get candidates for potential vacancies.
