Book Donation

Staffs from Department of Biostatistics and Oslo Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology of University of Oslo have donated more than 110 books to Jimma University Library. Professor Arnoldo Frigessi and Professor René Holst have coordinated the support and handed over the books to Jimma University Library.

Jimma University and the University of Oslo signed a collaborative agreement in October 2012 to engage in collaborative research projects, to initiate joint and double degree programs, to document and advance Community Based Education (CBE) and to work on capacity building.

Since 2017, Jimma University has been working on the NORPART project under the umbrella EXCEL SMART-Exceeding Learning through Strategic Mobility and Academic Partnership -JUiO-Jimma University, Ethiopia and University of Oslo, Norway. https://espresso.diku.no/…/;jsessionid… )

The overall aim of the EXCEL SMART JUiO NORPART Project is to enhance the quality of higher education in Ethiopia and expand and strengthen the academic cooperation between Jimma University (JU) and the University of Oslo (UiO).

During the occasion, Dr. Tadesse Habtamu, Vice president for Academic affairs at Jimma University handed a thank you letter for the support received. Staff mobility and donated books will contribute to Jimma Universty’s effort to start Biostatistics education by strengthening staff and Library resources.

Dr. Elias Alli JU Health Institute Vice President, Dr. Muluemebet Abera, Public Health Faculty dean, Mr. Henok Asefa and Mr. Teshome kabeta, both PhD students at Jimma University who got mobility scholarship from EXCEL SMART project, and invited Guests have participated on the occasion.
