A special event at JU

Jimma University hosts a special event on its journey towards a research University.
The objective of this special event is to bring about mind-set shift in making Jimma University a leading Research University.
Dr. Jemal Abafita, President of Jimma University on his opening remarks said our university has been given a new national mission as a research University. By applying new ways and systems of doing usual businesses, mind-set shifting, and prioritized practical steps will take JU to become a leading research university. The president further extended his belief that everyone's contribution in JU community counts in taking the university to the desired level in science, research and community service.
Dr. Netsanet Workineh, Vice president for Research and Community Service in Jimma University presented startup points and Jimma University's move towards a research University. She added that collaboration and having common understanding on research is the foundation for the smooth journey.
Professor Sultan Suleyman, Director for research at Jimma University Who published more than 60 articles on recognized journals reflected on JU research journey. On the occasion research experience sharing has been made by Professor Dilenasaw Yewhualaw, who published more than 120 articles.
Professor Tsinuel Girma, JU Alumni and senior researcher who published more than 60 articles has made a motivational speech that could help the audience to make an informed decision for JU's journey to be a leading research University and then a detailed discussion has been made on research capacity building, Community engagement and research mentorship with participants.
The event is organized by office of the Vice president for Research and Community Services.
On this special event Jimma University's top management, Professors, senior and junior researchers, Academicians, Alumni and invited guests have participated.
