According to the strategies of the University, the research
and Publications Office selected Research projects addressing public /
community problems in the different fields (health, agriculture, technology,
education etc) based on the priorities of research. Besides research projects
funded by the University, research projects are ongoing in Collaboration
with different organizations and governmental offices. Some of these are
with
- EARO: Supported 20 projects in 2004/5
- ESTC: supported 11 projects in 2004/5
- MOH/ Global Fund - 2 projects / agreement signed
- Brown University (USA) – working with community health departments
–2004/5
- MOE / allocated fund research for Faculty of Education: 10 projects
- Agricultural Research Institute/ Jimma Branch: 1 project with School
of Environmental health/ 2004/5
- WHO /TDR – On Malaria
- Belgium Universities [new collaboration on different projects] - on
progress
- Selection of research model areas was made in collaboration of all
faculties of the University at newly constructed hydroelectric power
dam - the Gilgel-Gibe area. Eight different multidisciplinary projects
(on Health, agriculture, Technology, Economy, Social and behavioral
sciences and law) were prepared from all faculties of the university
and are waiting for funds from different interested organizations.
