Introduction
The Department of Population and Family Health, one of the departments under school of graduate studies, Public Health and Medical sciences College, is comprised of three units: Reproductive Health, Nutrition and Population Studies/Demography/. The Department has a major role in the design and implementation of the innovative curricula, educational philosophy and strategy of the University
Historical Development
The department of Population and Family Health was established as a unit under the former community health program in1994. In 1996 when the community health program was transferred from Medical Faculty to Public Health Faculty the units were upgrade to department level with the three units: Reproductive health, Demography, and Nutrition. Since its inception, the Department has been involved in training of Medical, Health Officer, Nursing, Health Education and Environmental Health students as part of their under graduate program. After September 2004 the department started training students in Masters in Reproductive Health program.
