About The Department
The objectives of Agricultural Economics and Extension department are derived from the mission, vision and strategic plan and objectives of the Jimma University. Thus, the Department has mainly three major programs, namely, Agricultural Economics and Rural development and Agricultural Extension and Agribusiness and value chain management. Its major objective is to offer courses to all students of agriculture in these three major areas undertake researches in socio-economic areas and render service to the community in cooperation with all other departments.
The specific objectives include:
- To train students for rural and agricultural development,
- To undertake research in line with the university and country development program,
- To undertake development and extension programs,
- To offer consultancy services for various organizations and intervene community services.
