Research co-ordination
The IUC research programme with Jimma University consists of multidisciplinary research addressing problems caused by the existence of the Gilgel Gibe dam. To enhance collaboration between the different scientific disciplines, research coordination is required. Furthermore, the socio-economic aspects of academic research projects are often neglected. The multidisciplinary research programme would also benefit from a common structure to store data, so that projects can use each other’s data, and the IUC programme as a whole can visualise and extend the important findings from the IUC research programme.
The Research Coordination project team consists of professionals from the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, the Department of Economics, the Department of Population and Family Health, the Department of Sociology and the College of Agriculture. The research coordination project team supports the IUC research programme so that it generates research output with high societal relevance and disseminates and stores these research results. Socio-economic research will be undertaken and a database and Geographical Information System (GIS) will be set up and made available to the other projects
