Information to Contributors

General: The Ethiopian Journal of Education and Sciences is the product of Jimma University, Jimma, Ethiopia. It publishes original research findings, experiments, action research, case studies, brief communications, book and literature review on educational knowledge like teaching methods and abstract theories; views and observations, notable papers presented in conferences; constructive letters related to material production and development of the journal. Areas of studies for consideration are educational studies including the study of teaching and learning; curriculum development, education and information technology, practicum and community oriented studies, sciences (natural and social sciences), language and literature studies, humanities and behavioral sciences, current sensitive issues like gender and HIV/AIDS. Priority will be given to educational and science studies, and information on teaching and learning facilitation. The journal is published bi-annually in English Language; by the University responsible offices.

Manuscripts: Manuscripts submitted are subject for peer review by at least two experts in the field related to the study. Three copies of double spaced A4 sized paper with a maximum of 20 –30 pages (2000-3000) are to be submitted. The manuscript should follow the format: title page, abstract, introduction, methods, result, discussion, conclusion and recommendation, acknowledgment, references, tables and figures each in its appropriate place with appropriate heading and legend arranged according to their sequential appearance indicated by Arabic numerals. A cover letter signed by all authors should accompany the manuscript during submission, declaring its originality that it has not been published in any other similar journal or forum, followed by the copy right transfer to this journal in case it is accepted for publication.

Cover page: Title, author(s) name, academic status and address; date/year
Abstract: in a separate page not exceeding 250 words, describing the study site, population, objectives, study and sampling designs, conclusion and recommendation.
Materials and methods: includes population and site, study and sampling designs, methods and instruments of data collection, analysis and ethical issues.
Results: should present the major findings of the study, text, tables, figures of only important observations; not more than seven tables and figures.
Discussion: is to elaborate important aspects of the study relating it to other relevant studies and the future implication.
Conclusion and Recommendation: summarize the conclusion based on the major findings followed by recommendation.
Acknowledgment: should be in a separate paper and must be brief and short.

References: The style of the reference must be alphabetical order (APA style), the author’s name is followed by year of publication, title, journal (or city and publisher), volume number and page. Referred or quoted materials must be acknowledged, plagiarism is illegal and unethical. Direct quotation should be exact and as short as possible. Some examples are as follows.
