On December 29, 2012 four Universities namely, Jimma University, Ambo University, Hawassa University and Haramaya University, in collaboration with Nuffic (NICHE-ETH 019 Project) initiated M.Sc. Program in Agribusiness and Value Chain Management. Accordingly, a one day national curriculum review workshop was held in Jimma University, JUCAVM Senate Hall. Higher officials and professionals from various fields from all four universities attended the workshop.
Dr. Taye Tolemariam, VP for academic, research and students affairs made an opening speech and said, as a coordinator of the program, Jimma University is committed for the success of the program. The curriculum is competency based, task oriented and student centered and is built around an interdisciplinary philosophy. Collaboration is thus very important as the collaborating universities are equipped with well qualified and experienced multidisciplinary professionals whose background ranges from physical science to social science with wide experience in rural development & marketing research and teaching.
On the other hand, on the College of Public Health and Medical Sciences conducted a curriculum review workshop to launch M.Sc. in Health Monitoring and Evaluation on December 27, 2012 at the University’s Senate Hall. The program will commence next semester and a call for candidates is already made so that foreign students as well as local students apply for enrolment to the program. The class will begin on February 11. 2013.
