JU- CASCAPE CONSULTATION WORKSHOP
Capacity building for scaling up of evidence-based best practices in agricultural production in Ethiopia (CASCAPE) is a collaborative project among 5 Ethiopian Universe, 5 regional research institutes and wageningen University and research centore; it is financed by the ministry of foreign Affairs in the Netherlands.
The purpose of CASCAPE is to identify drivers for the uptake of in innovations, to test and disseminate these and evaluate their short and long-term effects, and with this knowledge to stimulate innovations and scald up best practices. In this way, CASCAPE works in alignment with the agricultural growth programme (AGP) and it contributes to increase agricultural productivity in a sustainable way, achieving economic growth and fool security in the country.
One of the coordinating organizations for this programme is Jimma University’s college of agriculture and WUR.
On April 1,2012, JU_ CASCAPE’s coordination Unit organized a one day regional stakeholders’ consultation workshop. Dr. Fikre Lemessa, president of JU and guest of honor, made a welcome speech to the participants. Dr. mulugeta Diro CASCAPE assistant country coordinator then clarified the objectives and the overall scope of CASCAPE.
Following this, JU-CASCAPE’s project coordinator, Mr. solomon Tulu, presented the project’s detailed progress report to the stakeholders. Discussion was then conducted on the survey report, Innovation/Intervention themes and problems. The participants wrapped up the workshop raising constructive ideas which are vital for the strength of the project,
