The Blue T-shirt Trainees
Jimma University in collaborations with IFESH JU Team , trained over 120 female and male students and staff to train as many as 600 other students on the “anti-Sexual Harassment Policy”, the ToT attracted. The opening speech addressed by Dr. Fikre Lemessa president, Jimma University.
The President’s opening speech remarks made it clear to all present, the strong commitment of Jimma University in promotion of gender equity and set the stage for a positive and collaborative atmosphere for the rest of the training. A total of 98 female and 20 male students were trained as trainers. Participants dressed in an attractive blue T-Shirt capturing the title of the Handbook, were seen everywhere, a large banner and many small flyers announcing the ToT and subsequent trainings were posted in major areas in the campus. The training was prepared and given by Ms.
Cherer Aklilu of School of Law and IFESH Team. The presenters included Ms. Alemtsehay Taye the JU Gender Expert, Mr. Behailu Tekle Haymanot of School of Law, Mr. Abera Jaleta of Office of HIV/AIDS Care and Coordination, Mr. Alex Hayward of ELIP Center. IFESH message clarified the concept of gender equity as a main pillar of development and not male/female power struggle. The session ended with lively and supportive question/answer session
