Staffs in the department of Mechanical Engineering of Jimma Institute of Technology have been working on various need-based researches. Previously a research staff, Solomon Mulugeta, developed an Automatic Injera Baking Machine which was successfully demonstrated to all university officials and stakeholders. On Tuesday July 19th 2011, a Meat Cutter Machine has been demonstrated to all university officials and stake holders. It is a new innovative idea in which its whole design has been done by a team lead by Engineer Solomon Mulugeta who completed his BSc in Mechanical Engineering in Jimma University in 2002EC and hired as the first research staff.About The MachineThis product is developed for use in universities, restaurants, cafeterias, hotels and food processing industries for slicing, cutting and dicing fresh meat such as beef, poultry, pork etc.Characteristics:The machinery and cutting blades are made from stainless steel and highly durable materials. The cutting blades are interchangeable for the desired meat size cuts. The machine is simple to operate and has easy cleaning procedures. The machine consumes 3kw electric power and operated by two workers. The machine produces 200kg meat cut per hour.Benefits:
- A single cutting machine can replace more than 20 kitchen workers, so that it drastically reduces the labor force required for meat cutting.
- The machine delivers uniform chopped meat size output, which satisfies the consumer demand.
- Since the machine reduces hand and other contact on the meat, it reduces the occurrences of contamination and other related diseases.
